Dear visitor, first of all, let us thank you for your interest in the Jean de Strivay estate
We would like to introduce ourselves in a few words.
We are Paule and Christian. We live in Belgium, in the Liège region.
In 2019, although it was in an advanced state of abandonment, we were won over by this property, particularly because of the environment and the serenity that surrounds it. We acquired it without really imagining the efforts we would have to make to finally be able to welcome you there. After 3 years spent juggling our professional occupations and the work to be done here in Besse, our three lodges are finally ready.
Why “Jean de Strivay”? Jean was Paule's dad. He was a well-known figure in the small hamlet of Strivay (municipality of Plainevaux, on the outskirts of Liège). He was a very enterprising man with admirable courage. After a life entirely devoted to his work as a traditional roofer/slate worker, he died in 2010 from an occupational illness. This lodging project is certainly one of the things he would have wanted us to do with what he left us. Always create and move forward, never resting on what you have learned was his credo.
In his honor, the estate bears his name and each accommodation bears that of one of our mothers or grandmothers.
Due to our professional obligations in Belgium, we entrust the reception and maintenance of the estate to Patrick, our concierge. He will ensure that your stay goes as smoothly as possible.
